Assessment [Hypertext game]

What is the reaction to the text you just read or viewed?

I started playing depressionquest as it was free and the most relatable topic to read. In the beginning, it was a lot of words yet the layout was interesting if not hard to read due to the small text, however as you continued along one path the choices would become crossed out. It's interesting. As someone who has struggled with depression, a lot of the dialogue paths were recognizable but I felt stifled at the same time as if I had been the one going through this sort of episode (again). I sincerely hope as the game goes the main protagonist can get accurate help. I did notice some of the text change from "very depressed" to "moderately depressed", which is good.

What connections did you make with the story that you read? Discuss elements from the work that you were able to connect with?

I guess I stated this previously, but the entirety of the plot of having depression and the length of getting help, reaching out to others and the long haul of trying to get out of bed and doing things that you enjoy. The significant other parts really struck a chord, on either side of the partnership it's easy to feel like you "tolerate" someone and are "tolerated" by someone. Regardless, that relationship in of itself needs therapy or a good discussion.

What changes would you make to adapt this story to another medium? What medium would you use? What changes would you make?

The only way I could make this is into a small indie game in terms of, light animation and more visuals. Then to lighten the load of the body of text this game currently has, the images can add to the immersive quality.
